Karen Sokol purchased her first camera, a Nikon N65, in 2002 for a trip to Alaska, During this trip she soon learned how much she loved traveling, the power of looking through a lens, and capturing the world as she sees it. She continued her hobby for many years. In 2018, she decided to take a class on photography wanting to move past the AUTO button. This opened her eyes to a new world and lead her to completing the Professional Photography Certification at the University of North Georgia. She loves to challenge herself with many types of photography including travel, landscape, macro, or anything that fuels her passion and curiosity. In her free time she is a photojournalist at The Hartwell Sun.
Karen lives in Hartwell, Georgia with her husband Jon and Layla the cat.
